Wills
Your Will is perhaps the most important legal document that you will ever write. Over 63% of the UK don’t have a Will.
Through your Will you can ensure that your wishes are carried out after your death and your loved ones inherit.
Trusts
A trust is a way of managing assets (money, investments, land or buildings) for people. There are different types of trusts and they are taxed differently.
Trusts are set up for a number of reasons, including:
-
To control and protect family assets
-
When someone’s too young to handle their affairs
-
When someone cannot handle their affairs because they’re incapacitated
-
To pass on assets while you’re still alive or upon death.

Lasting Power of Attorney
A lasting power of attorney (LPA) is a legal document that lets you (the ‘donor’) appoint one or more people (known as ‘attorneys’) to help you make decisions or to make decisions on your behalf.
This gives you more control over what happens to you if you have an accident or an illness and cannot make your own decisions (you ‘lack mental capacity’).
Probate
Probate is the process of proving that a Will is valid (if there is one) and confirming who has authority (the executor) to administer the estate of the decesaed person. It provides the legal right for the executor to deal with the deceased person's property, money and possessions (their ‘estate’) when they die.
